Moderate fitness is required. Trails range from 8–14 km on well-marked paths. No technical climbing is involved.

What is the best time of year for this programme?

May to October. July and August offer the most reliable mountain weather but are busiest. May–June and September are ideal for cooler, quieter hiking.

Can I skip hiking days if I prefer to rest?

Yes. On hiking days non-hikers can remain at Cauterets or return to Lourdes for additional Sanctuary time.
