Begin with a three-day walking pilgrimage from Pau along the historic GR65 route to Lourdes, then spend 10 days immersed in the Sanctuary's full spiritual, cultural and healing programme. This is Lourdes at its most complete: from walking in the footsteps of medieval pilgrims to quiet hours at the Grotto at dawn.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Walking Pilgrimage: Pau to Lourdes
Three-day walk along the Via Podiensis from Pau to Lourdes (approx. 45 km, 15 km/day). Moderate terrain through Pyrenean foothills, staying in pilgrim gîtes along the way.
Sanctuary Arrival & Immersion
Arrival at the Sanctuary by foot, an unforgettable first sight of the spire. Grotto Mass, Baths, evening Torchlight Procession. Day 5: Basilica visits and first retreat session.
Healing & Sacraments
Blessing of the Sick. Anointing of the Sick. Way of the Cross. Sacrament of Reconciliation with English-speaking priests.
Retreat Days
Guided silent retreat days with lectio divina, individual spiritual direction sessions and extended Adoration at the Grotto chapel.
Lourdes Town & Bernadette's Story
In-depth tour of Bernadette's Lourdes: Cachot, Boly Mill, hospice, parish church. Museum of Bernadette. Visit to the convent of the Sisters of Charity in Nevers (optional day trip by train).
Pyrenees Day Trip & Second Retreat Day
Excursion to Gavarnie Cirque or Cauterets. Final retreat day with group sharing and testimonies.
Grand Closing Mass & Departure
Solemn closing Mass at the Upper Basilica. Farewell gala dinner. Transfer to airport or station.

Frequently Asked Questions
How difficult is the walking section from Pau?
The three days from Pau are 14–16 km each on well-marked paths. Moderate fitness required. Luggage is transferred to your gîte so you walk with a daypack only.
What is a pilgrim credential?
A credential (carnet) is a booklet stamped at each stage of your walk. On arrival at Lourdes you receive a Compostela-style certificate confirming your pilgrimage journey.
Is there a single supplement?
Yes, a single supplement of €180 applies for solo travellers who prefer private rooms throughout.
